Shifan holds a Master’s in Counselling Psychology from Swinburne University of Technology, Australia, a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling Psychology from College of Allied Educators, Singapore, and a Bachelor in Business Management from Singapore Management University. She is a provisional clinical member of Singapore Association of Counselling and an associate member of EMDR Singapore.

She specializes in healing childhood trauma and transgenerational trauma. In addition to talk therapy, Shifan effectively incorporate body-based modalities including EMDR, Brainspotting, and Somatic Experiencing in her practice. Prior to becoming a therapist, Shifan was working in the corporate world / financial sectors in China, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Being an expatriate herself, Shifan is familiar with the challenges and transition involved. Shifan is well versed in navigating cross-cultural relationship issues due to professional and personal experiences.

In individual work, Shifan accompanies you on a journey of self-discovery and healing: unveiling unconsciousness; interpreting incomprehensible impulses and urges with kindness, understanding, and compassion; and re-creating a space where your once wounded inner child can finally be seen and heard.

In couple work, Shifan’s approach is to help each partner hear the hidden message under the superficial argument. “Why aren’t you waiting for me to start dinner?” is probably a mask over “I am scared that I am not important enough for you to wait.” Shifan helps couples explore their communication patterns and find ways to break free from these unhealthy patterns.

For clients who are parents, Shifan takes a special interest in healing one’s childhood trauma through the journey of parenting. She helps parents cultivate a secure attachment with their children, turn every parenting struggle into an opportunity for connection, and recognize their wounded inner child in their children so they have a choice to break the chain of trauma.
