Ben is a therapist with over 17 years of experience working with individuals, couples, parents, children, youth, and families. He supports clients across a range of emotional, relational, and mental health concerns, including anxiety (such as panic, phobias, and OCD), depression, stress, anger and emotional regulation difficulties, relationship challenges, parenting stress, and life transitions. He has extensive experience in couple and marital therapy, supporting couples experiencing high conflict, emotional disconnection, communication breakdowns, and recovery following infidelity. Ben supports couples at different stages of their relationship, helping them understand recurring interactional patterns, restore emotional safety, and make informed decisions about repair, separation, or redefining their relationship in healthier ways.
Ben holds a Master’s in Narrative Therapy and Community Work from the University of Melbourne, a Master’s in Professional Counselling from Swinburne University of Technology (Australia), a Bachelor of Social Work from the Singapore University of Social Sciences, a Postgraduate Diploma in Couple and Family Work as well as a Diploma in Clinical Supervision from Counselling and Care Centre. His therapeutic approach is grounded in narrative, systemic, and trauma-informed practice, and is characterised by warmth, collaboration, and respect for each client’s pace, context, and lived experience. He believes meaningful therapeutic change occurs when clients experience emotional safety, feel heard, and are supported to recognise patterns in their thoughts, emotions, and relationships.
In individual therapy, Ben works with adults, youth, and young people navigating emotional distress, relational difficulties, identity concerns, and the impact of past or ongoing stressors. He supports clients to better understand their emotional responses, reconnect with personal strengths, and develop practical strategies for coping and growth.
Ben also has a strong interest and depth of experience in working with men, including men navigating anger, shame, identity, relationship difficulties, and behavioural change. At the same time, he works inclusively with women and families, supporting mothers in understanding and responding to their teenage sons, and partners seeking to better understand their husbands and the relational dynamics that shape conflict and disconnection.
In parenting and family work, Ben supports parents who feel overwhelmed or uncertain in responding to their children’s emotional or behavioural needs. He helps parents strengthen parent–child attachment and approach everyday challenges as opportunities for connection and repair.
Prior to entering private practice, Ben served as Centre Director and Programme Lead at a Family Service Centre, where he worked extensively with couples and families navigating long-standing conflict and relational rupture. He is also well-regarded for his work in family violence intervention, having pioneered a community-based group programme for men who have caused harm, focusing on accountability, non-violence, and relational repair. His contributions have been recognised with the Family Violence Dialogue Group Appreciation Awards in 2020 and 2022. In addition to his clinical practice, Ben is an experienced trainer and supervisor, and has shared his work through conferences and media engagements locally and internationally.
